Western Red Cedar has the most color variation, a refreshing aroma, and is dry-rot resistant; as the softest wood, it is least hot to sit on or lean against. Alaska Yellow Cedar is an exclusive white wood, has a pungent aroma, and is silky to the touch. Western Hemlock is excellent for people who have wood allergies or are chemically sensitive, since it has no aroma and no resins.
